Financial Support
Provided that satisfactory progress is maintained, all students accepted into the program are awarded full support, including a stipend, full tuition, and health insurance.
Students are strongly encouraged to apply for outside fellowships during their senior year of undergraduate study. Fellowships that our students have been awarded include the National Science Foundation, National Defense Science and Engineering, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Hertz. Foreign applicants may also be eligible for funding from Harvard-related sources based in their home country.
Application Fee Waivers
Applicants can determine eligibility for a fee waiver by completing a series of questions in the Application Fee section of the application. Once these questions have been answered, the application system will provide an immediate response regarding fee waiver eligibility. The application fee is not refundable. Requesting a fee waiver does not affect your chances of admission. If you have any questions, please email the GSAS Office of Admissions at admiss@fas.harvard.edu.
GSAS Conference and Summer Research Grants
The Graduate Student Council offers grants for conference attendance and summer research on a competitive basis to GSAS students who are enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program or who are GSAS Special Students, who are members of the Council and whose department has been represented at GSC monthly meetings.
