Professor Alex Schier has received an Everett Mendelsohn Excellence in Mentoring Award from Harvard’s Graduate Student Council. The award seeks to “recognize those faculty members who truly go out of their way to mentor graduate students, honoring them for efforts which often go unnoticed -- but not unappreciated.” The GSC invites all graduates to nominate candidates for this honor. “The mentoring award came as a complete surprise,” said Schier, who was nominated by the graduate students in his laboratory. “I thank my students for nominating me and am glad that they think I do more than email and travel.”
