
Jonathan Gootenberg, PHD
Jonathan Gootenberg, Ph.D. is an Investigator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Center for Vaccine and Virology Research, with an affiliation with the Department of Genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Before his position at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr. Gootenberg led an independent research group at MIT as a McGovern Fellow. He received his Ph.D. in Systems Biology from Harvard University, conducting research with Aviv Regev and Feng Zhang at the McGovern Institute and Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and biological engineering at MIT. Dr. Gootenberg's work has been recognized with awards such as Forbes 30 Under 30, Technology Review 35 Under 35, Endpoints 20 Under 40, the Termeer Foundation Scholarship, and the American Association for Aging New Investigator award.
